We're so glad we chose It's No' Reel as our wedding band! They were an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. We were drawn into their lovely website by the amazing Game of Thrones cover video. Organising everything via email was so easy, and it was refreshing to get a clear idea of what was involved early on. Not only were they super professional on the day, they were also great fun and really responded to our guests on the dance floor by switching between ceilidh and our favourite dance tunes. Seeing my parents dance to 'House of Pain - Jump Around' was a personal highlight... The non-Scottish guests got the hang of the ceilidh moves in no time thanks to the great caller. Our guests were raving about the band for weeks afterwards. We couldn't recommend them highly enough!
Beth and Craig MacDougall, Wedding Ceilidh
We recently hired “It’s No’ Reel” for our wedding and were extremely pleased. Right from the beginning, communicating with the band was easy and stress free. The band arrived on time and set up without disturbing our reception in the next room. The band played exceptionally and everyone had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great band!
Rachel Kreuger, Private Wedding
Quite simply, it could not have been a better night.
Al l’Shermond, Private Wedding
A thoroughly excellent band! – Extremely easy to deal with, happy to be flexible to our requirements and to respond to the atmosphere in the room. The boys really helped to make an electric atmosphere after what had been a pretty full on day for our participants in the Bowmore Ben Nevis Challenge
Helen MacGregor, Capability Scotland
A massive thank you to you and the guys for such a wonderful evening at our wedding in France!
You made the evening a night to remember for everyone and all of our guests were raving about you. Even our French neighbours, who had come up for a glass of wine and a 'mosey about', were highly entertained. We greatly appreciate the distance you travelled and the long night you had on Saturday but the wedding wouldn't have been the same without you. Having every dance danced to by guests, many of who had never ceilidhed before was better than we expected, especially with the heat!
You were a pleasure to deal with in the months before and on the day, nothing seemed like it was too much trouble. We would be happy to recommend you to anyone considering a ceilidh band as you were without doubt the best, most entertaining and fun band we have come across
Rebecca & Ally Cameron, Wedding Ceilidh
A big, big thanks to you and It's No' Reel for coming to play at our wedding in Staffordshire - you guys were an immense success! Everything was seamless, from the correspondence before the wedding to the performance on the night. As we had guests from all over the world, only a handful were familiar with ceilidh dancing but thanks to your brilliant calling and great tunes you managed to get everyone up on the dance floor (even the least likely!) from our 8yr old Australian nephew to our parents and grandparents. We had such a wonderful time and the Strip the Willow finalé will go down as wedding legend amongst our friends! I would recommend you to anyone and everyone planning a party requiring top class entertainment that will be remembered.

4 Hour Hire
Q: Why have a ceilidh?
A: Celebrate your special event with a traditional, exciting, and fun night. It's No' Reel are one of the most up-beat, lively, and engaging ceilidh bands in the business. A ceilidh is a great way to break the ice: as with so many events (particularly weddings) many of the guests don't know each other, and a ceilidh is the perfect way for people to mingle, dance, and get to know each other in a really exciting, fun way.
Q: Can we choose a song for you to learn for our first dance?
A: Of course, however, please give us 4 weeks notice if you would like us to play it on our instruments. Otherwise, you can put it on an iPod, or let us know what it is and we'll make sure it's on our DJ system.
Q: How long do you play for?
A: Most ceilidhs are a 4-hour hire between 8pm and 12 midnight, with a 30-45 minute break somewhere in-between (we're very flexible where this break goes, but normally if there's a buffet that's a good time for us to take the break). During the break we'll play appropriate background music at a reduced volume, or you are welcome to provide your own iPod. Also, we've got our excellent mini-disco option, which is included as standard in the hire to break-up the ceilidh sets. We're very experienced at judging the room and giving a good mix anyway. The 4-hour set can be extended - speak to your Hville coordinator when enquiring.
Q: There's going to be guests there who have never done a ceilidh, should I book a DJ instead?
A: Absolutely not! It's No' Reel are expert at guiding even the most amateur dancers through the ceilidh dances - we've performed for many events where there haven't been any Scottish people in the room, and they've all still had a great time! Our caller is really fantastic at explaining dances in a fun, engaging way so that everyone is up dancing.
Q: How far will you travel for an event?
A: We regularly travel throughout the UK - this season alone sees us perform ceilidhs throughout Scotland, and in Tunbridge Wells, Stafford, Manchester, Cheshire, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Rome...
Q: What time will you turn up, and how long does it take for you to set up?
A: We will arrive approximately 1 hour prior to when we are billed to play to get setup and sound-checked. If you require us to arrive earlier than this, we will charge extra for early setups.
Q: What kind of music do you play?
A: We play a wide selection of popular Scottish and Irish tunes, along with a few surprises along the way...
Q: What equipment do you carry?
A: We carry professional PA gear (with a spare of pretty much everything!), and up lighters to add an ambience to the dance space.
Q: What is the band’s dress code?
A: Kilts! (Unless the weather is truly adverse!)
Q: How much space do you require?
A: Generally speaking, 4m W by 1.5m D would be a good estimate for our 3-piece band. If the room has a stage, that's always preferable as it gives us and the dancers a bit of separation.
Q: What does the mini-disco entail?
A: The mini-disco/DJ package is a brilliant way of giving your guests the perfect mix of ceilidh and disco music. Normally the mini-disco comes somewhere in the middle to break-up the sets and lasts up to 45 minutes, but we can be flexible. We encourage our clients to send us a list of 25-30 tracks that we will aim to include in the set, and it also gives us a good idea of the sort of music you're into too! Scott, the DJ, mixes the tracks using a Numark interface and MacBook Pro, and whilst it is a mini-disco, he can still take requests too!
Q: Do you have Public Liability Insurance, and is your electrical equipment PAT tested?
A: Yes to both - certificates available on demand.
